Migration in AmericaMapping people's moving habits
America, as a country of movers, has always fascinated me. I took Census data from the American Community Survey (2007-2011) that asked where people lived one year ago and mixed it with geographical data about each county using Fusion Tables.
The darker the green, the more people per capita were moving in that county. Click on each county to get additional information.
I took the ACS table from the Census Bureau and first added four columns to calculate the percentage of each moving group in relation to the total population of that county. Then I added two columns to calculate how many percent simply ‘moved’ or ‘stayed’. I used Google’s Chart Tool to create the two charts for each county card. Download the table I created here.
